What are the default credentials of a JACE

JACE controllers come with default credentials that should be changed immediately after initial setup for security. This guide provides default credential information for various JACE models and firmware versions.

Overview

Default credentials are provided for initial setup and configuration. It is critical to change these defaults immediately after initial configuration to prevent unauthorised access.

Security Considerations

Immediate Actions Required

After First Login:

  1. Change Admin Password: Change default admin password immediately
  2. Create New Users: Create individual user accounts for team members
  3. Disable Default Accounts: Disable or remove default accounts if possible
  4. Enable Security Features: Enable available security features
  5. Document Changes: Document new credentials securely

Password Requirements

When setting new passwords:

  • Minimum Length: Use at least 8-12 characters
  • Complexity: Include uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters
  • Uniqueness: Use unique passwords not used elsewhere
  • Regular Updates: Change passwords periodically
  • Secure Storage: Store passwords securely (password manager)

Best Practices

  • Never Use Defaults: Never leave default credentials in production
  • User Accounts: Create individual accounts for each user
  • Principle of Least Privilege: Grant minimum necessary permissions
  • Regular Audits: Periodically audit user accounts and permissions
  • Documentation: Securely document credentials for authorised personnel
